Tasting Notes

The 2005 Nebbiolo d’Alba is a fleshy, generous wine bursting with super-ripe red fruit. Today this Nebbiolo comes across as quite primary but it should develop additional complexity in bottle. The ripe full-bodied style of the 2005 vintage is on full display here. This wine can be enjoyed now with some air or left in bottle for another year or two which should allow the tannins to soften. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.div>
($145 suggested retail; for a magnum) Dark red. Wild bouquet of raspberry, redcurrant, underbrush, toasty oak, vanilla and bitter chocolate, with hints of roasted coffee and candied licorice. Red and dark fruit flavors show mature notes but the wine's balance and depth suggest that it will hold well in a cool cellar.
